Jang Su Jang Duluth Review: Menu & What to Order

Our Jang Su Jang Duluth review comes from multiple dishes rather than one quick meal, which matters at a restaurant with such a broad traditional Korean menu. The strongest plates—bossam, spicy pork galbi-jjim, yukgaejang, and seafood pancake—show why Jang Su Jang remains one of the first Duluth names people hear. A few other orders felt less convincing, so this is also a guide to choosing well.

The tasting notes and photographs reflect our original visits. Address, phone, and hours were rechecked against recent listings in August 2026; call before a special trip because restaurant schedules can change.

For first-time diners comparing Korean restaurants on Satellite Boulevard, Jang Su Jang Duluth works best when the table orders several specialties to share.

Traditional setting and banchan

Jang Su Jang feels built for a full Korean meal. The dining room is substantial, tables can handle bubbling stews and shared platters, and the meal begins with an assortment of banchan. During our visit, the side dishes were presented individually rather than crowded together, reinforcing the traditional, generous rhythm of the meal.

Because the menu ranges from soups and barbecue to pancakes and braises, first-time visitors should resist ordering randomly. The kitchen impressed us most when we chose dishes with strong texture and a clear sweet-spicy or savory identity.

Best dishes at Jang Su Jang Duluth

Bossam

Bossam was one of the safest recommendations. The sliced pork was tender and satisfying when wrapped with the accompanying vegetables and condiments. It is a strong shared starter or centerpiece for diners who prefer gentler seasoning over chile heat.

Spicy pork galbi-jjim

The braised pork ribs delivered the meal’s most memorable progression: a touch of sweetness at first, then a steady spicy finish. The meat was tender enough to pull apart easily, and the sauce clung well without turning the dish into soup. Order rice with it and share.

Yukgaejang

Our table was divided on the yukgaejang, but we still consider it a worthwhile order for diners who like robust spicy beef soup. I enjoyed its depth; my wife found it more average. Our serving did not include the gosari, or fernbrake, that some diners expect, so set your expectations accordingly.

Seafood pancake

The seafood pancake was thick, crisp at the surface, and moist inside. That contrast gave it more character than a thin, oily pajeon. It is an especially useful table order when a group wants a non-soup dish to share.

What we would reconsider

Not every dish landed at the same level. The gopchang sundubu was acceptable but did not separate itself from other soft-tofu stews around Duluth. The mushroom-and-vegetable hot pot felt expensive for the quantity and variety of mushrooms we received. A pork bulgogi ssambap order also leaned too heavily toward meat compared with wrapping vegetables, and its accompanying doenjang jjigae tasted saltier than we prefer.

Those misses do not erase the highlights; they simply make selection important. For a first visit, we would build around bossam or galbi-jjim, add the seafood pancake, then choose one soup.

The menu photos below are from our original visit and are not a current price guarantee. Recent delivery menus still show a wide range of soups, barbecue, pancakes, and braised dishes, but availability and pricing vary by platform.

Our verdict

Jang Su Jang Duluth is best approached as a traditional Korean restaurant with several excellent specialties, not as a guarantee that every one of its many dishes will be equally strong. Order strategically and Jang Su Jang Duluth can be one of the area’s most rewarding group meals.

Best first meal: Bossam, spicy pork galbi-jjim, seafood pancake, and rice shared among the table.
